NDA And EDANA Officially Establish The Global Nonwoven Alliance (GNA)

The boards of the Industrial Fabrics Association International (INDA) and the European Nonwovens Association (EDANA) have recently given formal approval for the establishment of the “Global Nonwoven Alliance (GNA),” with both organizations serving as founding members. This decision marks a crucial step in global nonwoven industry collaboration, following the signing of a letter of intent in September 2024.

GNA’s Structure and Goals

INDA and EDANA will each appoint six representatives, including their current presidents and five other delegates, to participate in the establishment and management of GNA. Registered as a non-profit organization in the United States, GNA aims to unify the global nonwoven industry’s development direction through resource integration and strategic synergy, addressing common challenges in technology, market, and sustainability.

Independence of INDA and EDANA Maintained

The establishment of GNA does not undermine the independence of INDA and EDANA. Both associations will retain their legal entity status and regional functions, such as policy advocacy, market support, and local services. However, globally, they will share leadership, staffing, and project planning through GNA to achieve cross-regional collaboration and unified goals.

Future Plans of GNA

In the short term, GNA will focus on building its organizational structure and implementing governance systems, ensuring transparency and strategic consistency for long-term development. In the future, the alliance will offer “joint membership” to eligible non-profit industry associations worldwide, aiming to create a broader and more influential global cooperation platform.

“GNA’s establishment is a significant milestone for our industry. Through cross-regional cooperation, we will accelerate innovation, strengthen our global voice, and provide more valuable services to members,” said Tony Fragnito, INDA President. Murat Dogru, EDANA’s Managing Director, added, “GNA enables the nonwoven industry to face global challenges with a unified voice, enhancing our influence, expanding the industry, and driving globally-oriented solutions.” With a balanced board composition, GNA is set to play a transformative role in driving global nonwoven industry innovation, supply chain collaboration, and sustainable development.
